Welton Fleming, age 102, of McClellandtown, PA passed away at the Uniontown Hospital on November 12, 2023. He was born December 16, 1920, in Richmond, VA to the late Samuel and Stella (Tinsley) Fleming.
After graduating high school, Welton served four years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort McClen in Alabama. He then returned back home and began working in the Coal Mine along side his father. He was a coal miner for 20 years until he resigned to begin a career as an Electrical Engineer. He attended Allegheny Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, PA.
Welton was a Christian man and was baptized by faith at 10 years of age at the Antioch Baptist Church in Edenborn, PA where he later served for 10 years as the President of the Usher Board. When he later moved to Richmond, CA, he converted to Methodism, and became a member of Davis Chapel AME Church. He was a dedicated and faithful servant for over 40 years serving as a Stewart Board Member, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Chairperson of the Methodist Men.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Susie Gardner Fleming.
Welton is survived by two sons: Reggie and Percy Ford; and one sister, Willie Manning; other relatives, and friends.
