Roberta Bell Smith of Ronco, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 15, 1935, in Portsmouth, OH. She was the beloved daughter of Robert and Roberta Madison and a cherished member of a large and loving family.
At 90 years young, she left an indelible mark on many lives. She was a devoted mother, sister, and friend. Affectionately known by many as Aunt Bert, her warmth, generosity, and strong spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. With unwavering devotion, unconditional love, and generous spirit, she raised 8 children, teaching them valuable lessons, values, and traditions that will be passed down for generations.
Her selflessness, kindness, and compassion inspired her children to be better versions of ourselves. Her warmth, humor, and love created a home filled with laughter, joy, and endless memories. She will be missed dearly, yet her legacy lives on and gives comfort to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched. Her love, light, and memory will be with us forever.
In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Remus E. Smith; paternal grandparents, Lee and Katie Nimmo; siblings: Napoleon Madison, Melvin Madison, Pearl Smith, Carl Madison, Thelma Wilson, Charles Madison, William Smith, James Smith, Carroll Smith, Mark Smith, Robert (Bob) Smith, her twin brother Robert Madison Jr., Mary Madison, and Robert (June) Madison III.
Her legacy lives on through her eight devoted children: Leroy (Yvonne) Madison of Baltimore, MD, Edward Smith of Ronco, PA, Harold (Melinda) Smith of Ronco PA, Alvin (Pam) Smith of Lewes, Delaware, Jessie Josey-Smith of Bel-Air, MD, Linda Smith of Ronco, PA, Roberta (Reggie) Taylor of Ronco, PA, and Donald (Brenda) Smith of Uniontown, PA; special son-in-law, Jason Taylor of Masontown, PA; siblings: Marie Smith, Norman Madison, Earl Madison, Barbara Edwards, and Vivian Rogers; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A special thanks is given to granddaughter, Gabriella Taylor, for her unwavering love and care of her grandmother, and to her doctors and caregivers.
Friends will be received at the LANTZ Funeral Home, Inc., 297 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA on Friday, October 24th from 11 AM – 1PM. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM.
