Reginald Grooms Obituary

Reginald (reggie) Grooms, age 66 passed away unexpectedly on   Monday, February 2, 2026. He was born February 27, 1959 to Richard and Jessie Mae (Burkes) Grooms.

Reggie was a 1977 graduate of Brownsville Area High School. He worked hard his entire life having one job or another. His employment began at Luzerne Park, he was also employed at Clyde Mine, Wetterau Corp, Dicks Sporting Goods, 84 Lumber, UPS, and Penn Presidential. While employed he also kept a clientele of lawn care and vehicle detail customers. After he retired Reggie continued to do part time delivery driving for Georgio’s.

He never rested his weary body. Even when his body said no, his heart and mouth said yes to anyone who needed his assistance.  We called him “The Hardest Working Man In The Room.

Growing up Reggie loved playing football and basketball. As he grew older he had a hard time giving up basketball because he possessed a special talent on any court. He played until his knees would no longer cooperate!

Reggie loved all sports, NFL, NBA, MMA, Boxing, and especially, track and field during the Olympics.  He was a die-hard Steelers fan!  If his television wasn’t on sports, it was on an old western or action movie, or an occasional karate or Kung Fu movie.

Reggie lived life to the fullest. He was a dapper dresser. He was a loving, dedicated, and supportive family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and family.

Reggie is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sylvia, his son Trenton, and a grandson, Cameron.

He leaves to cherish a treasure of memories, his wife Tonya who was his life partner and the love of his life: his children: Torey, Reginald (Cynthia), Sylvia, Richard and Regis (Chanel): stepdaughter: Camrie, 28 grandchildren, and 6 great grandsons. Reggie will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Russell, Eugene (Candice), Grant and Sheila, a dear to his heart special niece, Jeanne Marie, special friend, David Shoemaker, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

Reggie we will always love and miss you.  You will be forever remembered and cherished for the love and joy you brought into our lives. It’s time now for you to get some rest until we meet again.
