Odessa Rheubottom Obituary

Odessa Cecelia Rheubottom, age 93 of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was born April 15, 1931, to Leroy O. Rheubottom and Vanessa Clark Rheubottom in Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania. Odessa’s mom died when she was only 9 months old.  Her father married Esther Stout Rheubottom in 1936 when Odessa was five years old.

After graduating from North Union High School, she went to Manhattan, NY and graduated from nursing school. She spent most of her life there working in various hospitals and then private duty. Odessa had the privilege of traveling extensively in her young years to Italy, Germany, France, Puerto Rico, West Indies, and many states in the U.S. She often took in college students as boarders and many of them kept in touch with her through the years.

The joy of her life, her son, Ronaldo “Keto” Gonzales, passed away at the age of 35. She was able to help take care of him when he had an extended illness.

Through the years, she was faithful to come home and visit her parents in Lemont Furnace as well as her special cousin, Isabelle Taylor and her family.

In addition to her parents and her beloved son, Odessa is also predeceased by her loving siblings: Paul “Jr.” Rheubottom and Valerie Rheubottom Horton.

Left to mourn her death are her precious nieces and nephews: Glenn, Gloria, Gina, Greg, Gary, and Michael, as well as many cousins.

Arrangements are being handled by Lantz Funeral Home, Uniontown, Pa.  Due to Odessa’s request, there will be no service. She will be buried with her parents at Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance, Pennsylvania.
