It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of MaryAnna Parker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished member of the community.
MaryAnna peacefully passed away on Christmas Eve at the age of 77. MaryAnna was born in Somerset, PA on September 17, 1947. She moved to Oliphant Furnace, PA at an early age and was raised by her father, Rev. George William Smith, and stepmother, Livvie Dunbar Smith. She was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Fairchance, PA where she dedicated herself to her faith and the service of others.
MaryAnna was a devoted beauty school teacher at the Ronald J. Sanzi Beauty School in Uniontown for many years. She took great pride in sharing her passion and skills with countless students throughout her career. She also owned her own beauty salon, (The Salt & Pepper Hair Gallery) in Uniontown for several years. As the owner/stylist, she enjoyed providing clients with the latest hairstyles and make-up trends.
As an aide at several nursing homes, she offered compassionate care to the elderly and always went above and beyond to ensure their comfort and well-being.
In addition, MaryAnna worked at MAC Plastics Plant in Washington, Pa where she was known for her diligence and dedication to her team and her craft. As a welder at Fruehauf Co. Uniontown, PA she was a section leader and innovator within the company. MaryAnna had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her bold and vibrant personality brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. She was a wonderful person, deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
MaryAnna is survived by her devoted husband, Milton O. Parker, Oliphant Furnace; brother, William Smith (WV); sister, Gloria Smith (New Jersey); children: RuthAnn Richardson (Washington, D.C.); Sherry Parker (Bryan Peoples), Pittsburgh, PA; Shedrina Parker (Pebbles), Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren: TaVahn Parker (Angelica Parker), New Kensington, PA; Marcus McCants (Washington, D.C.); William McCants (Washington, D.C.); Kayla Parker, Pittsburgh, PA, Quyntin Peoples, Pittsburgh, Pa, Savannah Peoples, Pittsburgh, PA, Skylor Peoples, Pittsburgh, PA; great-grandchildren: Avari Monroe, Amari McCants, Liam Allan , Layla Woods, Aniya Marzulo, Kairo Parker, Amari Simmons, Ava Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews and family members.
She will be forever remembered as a loving, caring, bold, sassy and wonderful person who made a powerful and lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
