Markell DeShawn McKoy

Markell DeShawn McKoy, age 27, of Uniontown, PA passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024.  He was born February 18, 1997, in Mount Pleasant, PA the son of ShawnTay Snyder and William McKoy.

Markell was a 2015 graduate from Uniontown Area School District. On march 16, 2023, he graduated from Douglas Trucking school. His excitement to graduate beamed through his bright smile. He took pride in his accomplishment and was happy to make his family proud with his new career.

Markell was kind and loving. He was always clowning around and had an infectious smile to fit his contagious laugh.  He can be described as the life of the party. When he attended family game nights, he enjoyed being the host or sitting back telling us how we weren’t doing something right. There was never a dull moment with him. Markell had a very competitive spirit. He loved reminiscing about being a Chief during his youth football career.  He played football in high school and playfully bragged about being the best local basketball player to not play varsity.  Since his family’s reunion in 2022, he enjoyed weekend kickball games during the summer with the rest of his family. Some of his other pastimes were driving around (his seat reclined to the backseat), working out, and spending time with his dogs. His younger cousins will remember him as being someone they could go to or lean on. He cared deeply for his family, this showing true even in his last moments. 

Markell will be forever adored and leaves nothing but happy memories and good times for his family and friends to keep with them. 

Markell is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Norman Craggette, Sr.; his paternal grandparents: James and Celestine McKoy, and his uncle, Darren McKoy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, ShawnTay (Derrick) Snyder; his father, William ( Meghan) McKoy; siblings: Cierra Truley, Dayton Truley, Sa’Von Snyder, Deon McKoy, D’iare McKoy, Donocio McKoy, DeSean McKoy, Jackson McKoy, Daylan McLee, Jaleesa McLee, Alaisha Snyder, LaShawnda Snyder, Mercedes Snyder, Domonique Gregory, Michael Brown, Max Shelton, and Morris Earquhart; grandmother, Carol Craggette, great-grand Mother, Janet Truley; aunts and uncles: Nichole Craggette, Norman Craggette Jr., Michael McKoy, Juanita McKoy, James McKoy, Andrea Mckoy, Mark Ricks, and Amus Ricks; special cousins: ShaiMere Gregg-Thomas, Paris Hooper, and Ahmad Hooper; forever friends: Lyric Ellis and Armani Williams; god-children: Rodney Harris III, Amouri Williams, De’Andre Middleton, Zamiah Ellis; and nephson: Ceaire Truley, and many other relatives and friends.
