“Your sun will set no more, Neither will your moon wane, For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be finished.” Isaiah 60:20
On Monday, October 22, 2018, Ms. Madelyn Deborah Asbury Thomas, age 68, was called home to rest. “Red”, as she was fondly called, was born May 29, 1950 in Uniontown, PA. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carrie Lynn Thomas.
Madelyn attended Fayette County schools and graduated from Uniontown Area Senior High School. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and attended John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church where she found a great love for gospel music. She was a member of an Uniontown area choir called Voices of Love. Most recently, she attended Interfaith Church, where she was a member of the Group Change Choir.
Madelyn loved and cared about all who crossed her path. She always had time and an ear for listening to others and hands to make generous amounts of delicious food. She put her heart into cooking and baking and found immense joy in seeing her loved ones and friends fill their bellies. She was always singing because she loved music and never shied away from bowling, one of her favorite pastimes.
Madelyn’s family warmed her heart most of all. She adored her brothers, sisters, and extended family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and greatest joy.
Madelyn will be missed deeply by many.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, William Edward Thomas, Jr.; her daughter, Christy Noel Thomas; daughter-in-law, Hilari Ann Thomas; five grandchildren: Arianna Cheyenne Smith, Alexis Michelle Norris, Phoebe Jayden Thomas, Micah Nathanael Thomas, Asher Mathias Thomas; four brothers: Ricky Asbury, Terry Asbury, Alexander Asbury, Torin Asbury; two sisters: Michelle Norris, Kelly Asbury; one step-sister, Mary Jane Asbury; and a host of friends, whom she considered family.
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38 - 39
