Lydia M. (Davison) Cockfield, 89, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025.
She was born on March 7, 1935, in Fairchance, PA, the daughter of the late Ed and Marcella (Clair) Davison.
Lydia was looking forward to celebrating her 90th birthday with a party but that was not to be a part of her journey.
Lydia spent many years overseas with her husband, Dewey, and their children while he served in the U.S. Army for 26 years. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She took care of many of the older members of her husband’s family and her immediate family through the years.
Lydia worked for Metzler’s for many years. There she met many dear friends who remained in contact since 1988 when the store closed. After the store closing, Lydia opened her shop Window Designs by Lydia. She and her close friend, Pat Danko, attended many networking seminars around the tri-state area.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star Naomi #7 OES PHA of Uniontown and her late husband was a very active member of the regional Masons.
Lydia was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by her loving children: Renee Cockfield and Mark Cockfield, and his wife Cheryl; and grandson, Tegan Kushak—all of Uniontown; sisters-in-law, Pat Davison, whom she loved more like a sister than a sister-in-law, and Shirley Davison; many, many loving nieces and nephews will miss Lydia and her words of wisdom about family history as well as the family get togethers that she hosted. Many cousins share fond memories of Lydia who never failed to make all feel welcome. Though she has had many friends throughout the years, Patti Danko, Gail Clevenger, Jeanie Butts, and her former neighbor, Prem Sattsangi, played very special roles in her life.
Her nephew, Rev. Kenneth Jones will perform the funeral service.
