Kevin E. Brown, 66, of Richmond, VA, formerly from Brownsville, PA, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, Va. He was born October 22, 1954 to the late Marva J. Brown of Brownsville, PA and to the late Leon (Pappy) Johnson Sr. of Monessen, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Raymond and Leon Johnson Jr. of Monessen, PA, David Wayne Brown of Brownsville, PA, his son Christopher Michael Brown and his beloved niece, Erica Johnson of Homestead, PA.
Kevin was a graduate of Brownsville Area High School class of 1973 and he obtained an associates degree in business from Shorter University in Rome, GA. He retired from Comcast as a Senior Manager, where he had many mentors through his career in the cable industry. Just as he was mentored, he inspired his employees to develop skills that promote upward-mobility in their careers.
Kevin had a strong love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and attended worship services at Empowered Believers Christian Learning Center in Hampton, VA. He was also a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Brownsville, PA.
Kevin was raised in a loving home and influenced by very strong women in his life: his late mother Marva, aunt Fanny (Mommie) Brown, and his aunt Lillie Mae Hill, along with his cousins Denise (Gussie) Brown and Barry Brown of Brownsville, Twila Brown of Georgia, Michael Brown of Ohio, and Angela Brown of New Jersey.
Kevin became a Master Mason in Atlanta, GA. He was an avid golfer and a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He enjoyed coaching baseball and football. Many of the young men that he coached still refer to him as “Coach Kev”. He loved traveling and spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Denise (Lockette) Brown, his two children, Erin Denise Brown of Richmond, VA, Anthony Thomas (Laceena) Brown of Hampton, VA, and niece Jodie Lynn (Will) Young of Alexandria, VA who he also helped to raise, four grandchildren, Miracle, Christian, Da’karai, and Malachi, all of Virginia, his mother-in-love Betty Lockette, and Marie Johnson, He also leaves behind nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
