Kai Calvert Obituary

Kai Reyni Calvert
“Noonie”

Kai, 26 years of age, transitioned from this life unto life eternal on Sunday, June 27, 2021, in her home, surrounded by family.

Kai was born August 16, 1994, in Pittsburgh, PA to Nia Donnell Calvert and Trent Torrey Thompson. She was one of nine siblings and a mother of four children.

Kai loved the Lord and had a strong spiritual upbringing. She was baptized in the early 2000’s, by her favorite uncle Benjamin L. Calvert II, becoming a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the Woodland Hills School District and then went on to pursue many entrepreneurial endeavors such as, home healthcare, becoming certified as a lash extension technician and starting Klashy Mynks.

Kai had a love for life and being the best mother she could be for her children. She loved spending time with family and friends and was always the life of the party, laughing and carrying a smile that could light up a room. She was a loving and caring person and extremely over-protective of her family. Kai was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend. To know her was to love her.

Kai was a genuine soul with a big heart, but above all, she was a FIGHTER. She faced her health challenges with resilience and fortitude and was an inspiration to all that knew her story. #NoonieStrong. She has left a lasting impression on those who were blessed enough to have been a part of her life. She will truly be missed by all.

Kai was preceded in death by her sons, Philip and Khalil; and her grandfather Benjamin Lester Calvert I; her grandmother Geraliss “grandma lady” Mae Thompson; Kai is survived by her daughters, Khloe and Kaydence; her significant other Philip Jones, her “Mommy” Nia Calvert (Cameron), her father Trent Thompson (April); her grandmothers Etta Calvert, Stephanie Calvert and Patricia Denson; her siblings Torrey, Whitney, Pria, Zana, Tyriq, Jatasia, Trenety, and Armani; her step-sister Shikaila Broadus; her uncles Benjamin Calvert, Joseph Thompson, Richard Allen, Gene Hughey, JaRon Roberts, Rob Ford, Eric Ingram and John Johnston; her aunts Kimberly Thompson, Jennifer Thompson (Marcene), Lakeisha Feaster (Erie) and Leah Riley; her godfather Walter Evans; her godmother Kiyonna Harris; godson Sincere; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
