Jennie Marie (Jackson) Edmonson

Jennie Marie (Jackson) Edmonson, was born January 12, 1931 in Rachel, West Virgina to Nathaniel and Lennie Bell Jackson. Jennie Marie was the youngest of five siblings including: Evelyn Davenport, Ona Belle Hollingsworth, John Jackson, and Louis Jackson. After graduating from Dunbar High School in WV, Jennie Marie, married Charles “Bug Ed” Edmonson (1926-1996) on August 20, 1951 in Uniontown, PA. The loving couple had four children: Michael Edmonson (1952-), Armon Edmonson (1954-2011), Donna (Edmonson) Jones (1955-2003), and Charissa (Edmonson) King (1967-).
Jennie Marie was a caring woman working as a preschool teacher in her early years of marriage while remaining present in the activities of her extraordinary children. She exhibited her faith through serving as “Head of the Junior Usher Board” at John Wesley AME Church in Uniontown. Jennie Marie was also a faithful and compassionate employee of Dr. Mitchell (of Uniontown) while being a social-butterfly; participating in various charitable and volunteer activities throughout the community.
Ever the fashionista of her day, Jennie Marie, was recognized as a stylish lady who enjoyed collecting show-stopping hats, making clothing (for her and her children), and participating in several local fashion shows throughout the area. She enjoyed collecting apple, elephant, and doll trinkets; proudly displaying them within her inviting home where she entertained family and friends.
Jennie Marie, was honored by New Beginning Full Gospel Church as “Mother of The Church”; blessing members and visitors with her wisdom, grace, and style.
Leaving a vibrant legacy through her son (Michael Edmonson), daughter (Charissa King), grandchildren (Mandel Edmonson, Jonathan Edmonson, Mariah Franklin), great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; Jennie Marie Edmonson’s life will ever be a beacon of hope, faith, and love!
