Jayon Johnson

Jayon Eileene Alfreata Lea Johnson, age 59, of Morgantown, WV passed away on September 1,2024, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born September 23, 1964, in Morgantown, WV to Norma Jean Johnson. She was raised in the tender loving care of her precious maternal grandmother, Emma.

Jayon accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at an early age at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Shriver, WV and was baptized. Jayon was raised alongside her cousin, Charles “Chuckie” Timothy Johnson III and her aunt, Mary “Baby”. She attended school in the Monongalia County School system, graduated from University High School, and attended West Virginia University--majoring in Social Work.

In her earlier years, Jayon worked at the Kroger Food Store in Sabraton, WV and later became employed at the Mylan Pharmaceutical Plant, in Morgantown for many years until its closing in 2021. Jayon also was a caregiver for her grandmother, Emma, as she aged through the years. Jayon’s mother, Norma Jean Williams remembers Jayon’s love of all different types of music. Jayon’s heart was filled with personal music when she was blessed to become the proud mother of her son, Charles, whom she named after her dear cousin.

Jayon is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Charles Timothy Johnson, Sr. and Emma Virginia Finley Johnson; cousin, Charles Timothy Johnson III; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She leaves behind her son, Charles “Chuckie” Timothy Johnson, V.; life partner, Rahmel Harper; aunts: Emma and Marie Johnson, and Mary Johnson Talley; a host of cousins, friends, and other loved ones.
