Elizabeth M. Jones

Elizabeth “Duce” Jones, 97, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2024. She was born to the late Lillie Bell Jones on September 28, 1926, at the Uniontown Hospital. She was fortunate enough to be raised by two remarkable women: her mother, Lillie, who was better known as “Sis” and her loving grandmother who she affectionately referred to as “Ada Mom”. 

Elizabeth was married to the late John H. Jones, Sr. and together they raised their 9 children here in Uniontown, PA. 

Elizabeth was strong, resilient, and a hard worker. A dedicated housekeeper and au pair, Elizabeth devoted many years caring for area families. She was also the caretaker for her mother in her later years. The abundance of love she had for her family and friends encouraged her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and others to surround her often. 

In addition to her spouse and mother, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her 3 children: Tyrone Melvin Jones, Ronald Warren Jones, and Darrell Maurice Jones. She is survived by her 6 children: Barbara Jones-Mitchell, Velma Jones-Durant, John Jones Jr., Terry “Horse” Jones (Christina), Cherise Jones-Curry, and Tonya Jones-Houston (Edward); special son, Keith Greenawalt; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; her bonus children -The Thomas’s; relatives, loved ones, and friends. 

Elizabeth’s wisdom, guidance, love, sarcasm, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the LANTZ Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11AM, with the funeral immediately following at 1PM.
