Edna Eleanor (Hall) Brown, age 70, of New Salem, PA passed away with her loving family by her side on September 13, 2024, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born June 17, 1954, to the late Davis Robert (Mary) Hall, Sr. and Edna Eleanor Williams Hall (Isaac) Melvin in Mt. Pleasant, PA.
Edna graduated from Uniontown Area High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from Penn State Fayette and a bachelor’s degree in dental anesthesia and a master’s degree in dental Hygiene from Pitt University.
Her love for helping others began while working alongside Dr. Fred Vaughns where she found a passion for dentistry. She worked with several other dentists in the area and found a calling in pediatric dentistry working alongside Dr. Howard Elson, and together they created a puppet show to teach children the importance of dental health. She visited many schools in the community and is remembered for the song “Brush, brush, brush your teeth.”
Edna was an avid Steelers fan and watched all the games. She was in love with her family and her community. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she had a special bond with her great-grandchildren.
Edna had a complete love for the Lord and lived a life of service. She belonged to the Berean 7th Day Adventist Church in Uniontown, where she served as a path finder leader and an adventurer for her church traveling to many communities teaching children about the Lord. She worked closely with the Bruderhof community as their dental hygienist. She assisted her church with food distribution to those in need and this is how her love for charity transpired into her non-profit corporation, Honey’s Helping Hands--thru this creation she fed and clothed her community. Alongside her pastor, she found another passion in prison ministry and was later employed with the SCI prison system, where she retired. Her tireless efforts earned her the Martin Luther King Award and the Community and Family Award.
Edna’s life is a tribute to her Lord, and she was a faithful servant. She would often tell others, “I’m just trying to make it to heaven.
