Donald Evans, Sr. Obituary

Donald “Donnie” Lee Evans, Sr., age, 69 of Edenborn, PA, passed away at his home with his family by his side on September 28, 2022. He was born October 9, 1952, to late Robert Lee Evans Sr. and late Ernestine A. Bates Evans in Uniontown PA.

Donnie graduated from German Township Highschool in 1970 and was a member of the football team which went undefeated his senior year. Donnie always kept busy by working security and coaching basketball, among many things. Donnie was a wonderful man with a heart of gold and he had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day even with his “falsies”. No one could ever have a bad day around him because he always made sure he told a joke, cracked a smile, or even gave a hug just to make that person feel better.

If Donnie wasn’t out fishing or playing cards and drinking a natural ice, natty daddy, or that good old Mad Dog while listening to some type of music (he loved music and would sing the house down) then he was spending a night or two at one of his kids houses.

Donnie loved his kids unconditionally, and he would drop anything and run for his grandchildren. He was one hell of a grand pap and always made sure the kids were up and ready for school in the morning and waited on the porch when they got off the bus to greet them with a “what’s up, man” or “hey sweetie”.

He was always willing to lend a hand whenever he could, no matter the task. He was known to come over and stay at your house to give you a break or help with your kids. He would help you pack your house an move help you unload all your stuff. Donnie would cook dinner while he was there helping or at least before he left. He could “throw down” in the kitchen especially when it came to making soups! He wouldn’t dare try to leave while visiting Jeanna’s kids without making them some beef stew because he knew “what was up”! He also couldn’t go anywhere without making flaming hot sausages that no one but he, himself could eat without burning up-- boy were they good.

His family is beyond grateful for the wonderful man that he was and for all the time that they got to spend with him. Donnie was definitely one for making great memories and being sure to capture the moment with his little black phone. No matter where you were or how you looked, Donnie was snapping that picture so he could always look back and remember that day.

In addition to his parents, Donnie was predeceased by his brother, Robert “Bob” Evans; sisters: Ernestine Bryant, Alveris R. Cohen, Adriane R. Evans; grandson: Rashad Harris, and nephew, Darias Evans.

Donnie was survived by his wife: Dora Evans; children: Donald “DeeJay” Evans, Jr., LaQuita Fletcher, Jeanna, Mamie, Hilda, William “Turk”, Aaron; special children: Courtney, Crystal, and Mario; special extended family members: Sean Cooper, William Issac, and Kinta Stanton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brothers: Darrell Evans and Clinton Cohen; special brothers: Bev and Bug English; nieces: Stacey Evans and Gabriella Locke; great-niece: Lailah; great-nephew, Kenyan; special friend, Missy Scott, and numerous other family, friends, and loved ones.
