With heavy hearts, we honor and celebrate the life of Dodie Lynn Belt, born January 13, 1963, who passed peacefully on February 2, 2026, with her beloved son by her side Trevor Bailey Jr.

Dodie was a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering resilience. A proud graduate of Uniontown High School, she excelled academically and was a member of the East End Drill Team. She carried that same dedication and discipline throughout her life.

Dodie devoted more than 20 years of service to public health and human services at the Broward County Health Department. Her work included involvement with the HIV/AIDS Consortium through the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA—work she found deeply meaningful. She was highly skilled in program coordination, eligibility services, staff supervision, and contract compliance. Dodie earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration and was known for her strong commitment to community engagement, data quality assurance, and health services administration. Her heart for service also led her to establish a women’s youth ministry in Florida, where she mentored and uplifted young ladies with compassion and purpose.

Through life’s joys and challenges, Dodie carried herself with grace, always leading with her heart. Her kindness was felt by all who knew her, and her presence brought comfort simply by being there.

Above all else, Dodie was a devoted and loving mother. She leaves behind her cherished son, Trevor Bailey Jr., the pride and joy of her life. Her love for him was unconditional, constant, and fierce—a love that will forever guide and surround him.

She is also survived by her sister, Terri Belt Walker, and Michelle Dean; brothers Michael Belt (wife, Anita Belt), Jerry Belt, and Maceo Belt (wife, Davena Belt); and Grapey Thomas. She leaves behind her godchildren Jennifer Pratt, Saundra Franklin, and Ayanna Jackson-Gills; best friends who were like sisters—Lisa Davis, Anita Sandra Clark, Sonia French, Angie Love, and Trina Jackson—as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Dodie was preceded in death by her mother Mary Jane Belt Cooper; her sister J’uane Belt; her grandmother Mabel Belt; her great-grandmother Mary Emma Belt; her uncle Arnold (Arnie) Belt, her aunt Debbie Thomas; and cousin Jason T.

Dodie passed from this world the same way she lived in it—with gentleness, dignity, and grace. Though her physical presence is gone, her spirit lives on in the memories shared, the love she gave, and the many lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved
