Dell Marie (Bynum) Jones

Dell Marie (Bynum) Jones, age 93, of Uniontown, PA passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023, at the home of her daughter, Sheri Jones, and surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 4, 1929, the 1st of 10 children born to the late John A. Bynum, Sr. and the late Hattie Bynum in Fitzhenry, PA. Dell was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Bouraguard Paul Jones, Sr.; her children: Thelma M. Bynum (Jones), Julius Bynum, Cynthia Jones, and Bouraguard Paul Jones, Jr.; siblings; Florene Bynum, Matilda Bynum, Robert S. Bynum, John A. Bynum, Sr., and Robert Snodgrass.

She is survived by her children: Rev. Julia Ann King of Fairchance PA, Denice Jones Shuford, Pamela Jones, Velma Jones Gregg (Darroll), Sheri Jones, Toni Jones Wallace, and Michael Jones (Emma) -- all of Uniontown, PA, and Roxanne Jones of Norfolk Virginia, and siblings: Rebecca Bynum Owens, Warren M. Bynum (Daisy), and Milton Snodgrass (April).

In addition to her children and siblings, she will be immensely missed by over 300 grandchildren including, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dell was a dedicated Usher at Mt. Rose Baptist Church where she was a member for many years and an Usher at the YWBA in Uniontown, PA until her health made her unable to attend. She made sure her children and grandchildren attended as well. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother to 15 children and a caregiver for her daughter, Toni, for many years. Dell was a loving, caring woman who loved her whole family deeply. She provided a listening ear when needed and provided correction and discipline in a way that only she could. Every one of her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Dell, who was affectionately known as Mom Jones, was known to provide a plate of food and or a warm place to stay for many in the community. She was well known for her delicious bread, cooking, and her green thumb.
