Clyda Marie (Harris) Thomas

Beloved Clyda Marie Thomas, age 60, of Uniontown, PA , received the gift of GOD and gained her heavenly wings and achieved eternal rest, November 28, 2024.  She received GOD’s Blessings becoming relieved of illness, discomfort, and pain to transition to the Kingdom of Heaven.  Clyda was born in Uniontown, PA, March 26, 1964, to Heavenly awaiting parents William Clyde Thurman and beloved Georgetta Harris, that lovingly met her at Heaven’s Gate. 

Clyda was awarded the birth of her first Child, Michael McCray October 25, 1990, and sadly laid him to rest February 8, 1993.  Daughter, Amber Jo Pitts courageously and passionately attended to her until Clyda’s passing.  Husband, Phillip Stanley Thomas stood at her bedside showering her with the love, care, and compassion they fostered throughout their wedded bliss.  Clyda was a Godfearing financial member of John Wesley AME Zion Church.

Clyda graciously and successfully walked God’s earth providing goodness, kindness, and friendly prosperity to all she met, loved, and embraced.  A 1982 Graduate of Uniontown High School, she pursed many higher education opportunities to advance her career and professional knowledge: Word Processing Certification from Penn State University’s Fayette Campus; Medical Office Assistant Diploma from West Virginia Career Institute; LBI Health Management; and a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.  After High School she relocated to Harrisburg, Pa and accepted employment with AMP Incorporated.  Later she decided upon Pensacola, FL, and gained employment with Columbia Regional Hospital.  Afterwards she decided to return home to Uniontown, and continued to serve the community, skillfully and successfully: UPMC: Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, UPMC Cancer Center, Uniontown; Laurel Highlands OB/GYN, Hopwood, PA; The Orthopedic Group, Clairton, PA; Head Start Program at Fayette County.  She retired, due to her physical disability, from Fayette Resources, Inc. where she continued to execute her largest passion-- fostering and educating children.

Clyda supported and looked forward to enjoying family and friends’ gatherings.  She loved expressing ideology, political views, current events, and general discussion.  She yearned to share in company and advance loving relationships.  She is sadly missed, eternally loved, and remembered by all. Heavenly departed, she leaves a loving husband and charming daughter to cherish her memory, along with her brother, Craig and his wife, Tammy; sister, Lana Settles and her husband, Rick; nephew, Zachary and his wife, Halla; her wonderful and ever-loving nieces: Ella-Marie Settles and Devyn Harris; special nephew, Jeremiah, all who will forever cherish and miss their Aunt Clyda; godchildren: Tori Grooms, Jersey Greer, and others who will forever miss her; and a host of adored aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

Clyda is in heaven and united in joy and celebration by the many family members we miss and patiently wait to see again: her son, Michael; mother, Georgetta; twin brother, Clyde; nephew, Jarel Settles; grandmother, Josephine Salvi; uncles: Michael and Garry Harris, and James Salvi; aunts: Marie Harris, Rita Carter, and Harriet Grady; sister-in-law, Phillis Thomas; and many, many more family members and friends.

Clyda’s life will be celebrated on Friday, December 6th from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Lantz Funeral Home, 297 E. Main Street, Uniontown, PA.  The celebration continues with a funeral service, Saturday, December 7, at 4 PM.
