Carl Thomas, age 73, of Uniontown, PA formerly of Brownsville, PA went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was born on September 2, 1952, in Brownsville, PA, and was the beloved son of the late Rev. William H. Thomas and Cornelia (Brown)Thomas.
Carl was a proud graduate of Brownsville Area High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army on August 7, 1972, and served honorably until his discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve on August 6, 1978, attaining the rank of Specialist Four (SP4). During his military service, Carl worked as a Military Policeman and earned several commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman, and Pistol Marksman awards.
Following his military service, Carl was employed by Volkswagen before dedicating his career to serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Corrections Officer. He began his service in March of 1986 and retired in June of 2007 after 21 years of faithful service, achieving the rank of CO3 and earning numerous certificates and commendations throughout his career.
Carl was truly the life of the party. Whether hosting family gatherings at the grill or enjoying a night out with friends, he had an infectious laugh and a remarkable ability to bring joy to everyone around him. One of Carl’s most meaningful accomplishments came later in life when he accepted the Lord into his heart and was baptized on July 2, 2025, at Laurel Ridge Nursing Center.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his siblings: William H. Thomas Jr., Clarence Thomas, Bowman Thomas, Harold Thomas, Edward Thomas, and Charlotte M. Brewer.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Alexis De Los Santo (Dario); grandchildren: LillyAnne, Pharaoh, and Elias; his devoted partner, wife, and friend of 35 years, Janet Thomas; siblings: Shirley Wall, James Thomas (Marlella), and Kenneth Thomas (Lisa); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 20th from 11 AM - 1 PM. The funeral will begin at 1 PM. Interment will immediately follow at the Thomas Cemetery in Hopwood, PA.
