Obituary

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9

Betty June Tinsley Wagner-Lee was born on August 6, 1949, in New Eagle Hospital located in Van Voorhis, PA. She was the fourth eldest child of nine between James Lester Tinsley and Geraldine Elaine (Lee) Tinsley, who have both preceded her in death.

Betty attended high school in Coraopolis, PA, and furthered her education at Geneva College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources in 2003. 2003. Betty was considered one of the Matriarchs of the family and was affectionately known as ‘Aunt Betty’ to so many across the country that it became her call sign. She was always full of life and always had a beautiful smile, hug, a laugh, advice, or guidance with scripture to share with those she loved.

Betty was baptized and fully committed her life to the Lord in 1976 and later achieved her dream to be an Ordained Evangelist under the Ordination of C.O.G.I.C, Mother Audrey Banks-Williams. This work allowed her to teach and spread the ministries of God across the nation. She spent her life living with plenty of purpose and intent through both good and not-so-good times. Her strength for love and family brought her an abundance of joy that she shared with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings, and her circle of friends. Betty’s children Timothy (who preceded her in death on December 31, 2009), Kimberly, and Mario, were the center of her life and when they were happy, her heart was filled.

Betty started working at UPS in 1986, and dedicated 35 years of loyal service before retiring to begin a new chapter in her life. During her tenure with UPS, she met and married John Houston Wagner on 2/14/1993, (who preceded her in death). Several years later she met and married Robert E. Lee on 9/12/2021, (who also preceded her in death). Betty leaves behind to cherish her memories; her daughter, Kimberly Kenyatta McMullen (James); son, Francis Mario Tinsley (Melissa); siblings: James Lester Tinsley (who preceded her in death on December 17, 1967),   Gretta, Marilyn Bedetta Counsel, Jacqueline Molly Tinsley, Elayne Wells, Howard White, Heather English (Keith).

Betty is now sitting with loved ones that have gone before to prepare a path, along with her oldest son; Timothy (Nino) Tinsley, brothers: John Tinsley “Uncle John”, Lawrence Tinsley “Uncle Lonnie”; nephew, Eric Wade; husbands: John Wagner and Robert Lee.

Betty’s life touched so many that it bears mentioning some of her special relationships that include her eldest Mario Isaiah Tinsley, Mia Damita Hill, Alesha Marie McMullen, James Londell Jr., J’Taime Natai Turner Hill; niece and nephew: JJ Tinsley and Ronni Marie Gillenwatter; brother-in-law,  Ronald Wade’ and “best girlfriends”: Carmen Valdez, Marilyn Clarke, Karen & Tony Phillips, Audrey Wisilosky, Judy McKeta, Louise Nalevanko; along with a host of grand-children, stepchildren, Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.

“Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” -Nehemiah 8:10
