Betty Jane Flowers, 88, of Hiller, PA passed away at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA on April 9, 2019. She was born July 19, 1930 in LaBelle, PA.
She is predeceased by her husband, Archie Lee Flowers, Sr.; mother, Nora Potts; and daughter, Shirley Crable.
Surviving are her children: Stanley D. (Kathleen) Crable, Sr. of Brownsville, PA, Lora Lee (Kenneth) Crable of Hiller, PA, Wanda King of Pittsburgh, PA, and Sharon (Aaron) Flowers of Brownsville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece, Darlene Curry of Pittsburgh, PA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Betty Jane was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Hiller, PA where she was the Mother of the Church and in addition, she served as a Willing Worker and was a member of the choir. She was employed as a Head Cook at Brown’s Steak House in Rosco, PA and as a Nurses Aide at Al Box Nursing Home in Brownsville, PA until her retirement. Betty Jane enjoyed bowling, puzzle books, and word searches. She was an avid basketball fan. She knew the game and players and watched with great enthusiasm. She was also a member of the Traveler’s Club which brought the first Black Carnival to town.
Friends will be received at Canaan Baptist Church, 1302 2nd St., Hiller, PA on Saturday, April 13th from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, the hour of service with Pastor Andrew K. Dent officiating. Interment will immediately follow at LaFayette Memorial Park in Brier Hill, PA.
