Barbara Ann Rutland, 85, of Uniontown, PA, passed away on July 15, 2026. Born in Connellsville, PA, on June 3, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorthy Burrell. Barbara graduated from Connellsville High School in 1959 and later moved to Brooklyn, NY. In 1958, she met the love of her life, Robert Rutland, whom she married in 1961.

Barbara dedicated 30 years to the New York Telephone Company, climbing from an information operator in 1960 to a supervisor before retiring in 1990. Following her long tenure in North Babylon, Long Island, Barbara and Bobby moved to Uniontown, PA. For ten years, they enjoyed a warm "snowbird" lifestyle, dividing their time between Uniontown and Palm Coast, FL. Their golden years were filled with great friends and travel, including cruises throughout the Caribbean and unforgettable trips to China, Russia, and Rome.

Barbara lived her life as a beacon of love and support for her family, always there to uplift her nephews and aunts through life’s joys and challenges. A devoted pillar of her community, she was an active member of Payne AME Church in Connellsville, PA, where she faithfully served as treasurer for many years. When she wasn’t immersed in a good book, Barbara was an avid tennis fan, glued to every major professional match. Her warm presence and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorthy Burrell; sister, Beverly Rutland; and aunt, Ruth Webster.  She is survived by her husband, Robert E, Rutland; stepdaughters: Robin Cunningham and Roslyn Simpson; nephews: William and Devin Rutland; aunt, Elsie Haley; goddaughter, Kelly; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
