Barbara Ripp Obituary

Barbara J. Ripp, age 67, of Lemont Furnace, PA passed away surrounded by her family on Feb 6, 2025, at the Uniontown Hospital. She was born in Edgerton, WI on July 21, the daughter of the late Henry and Doris Arthur Sr.

Barbara graduated from Edgerton School District in Wisconsin and went to Blackhawk Technical School. She was united in marriage to Nolan D. Ripp on July 10, 1976. They later moved to Lemont Furnace in July of 2023 to be closer to her family, especially Isabelle Coleman, her special granddaughter.

Barb was a manager for Slantrax in Janesville, WI for over 20 years. She also worked for Kohl’s and Senaca Foods of Janesville, WI before retiring. Barb was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge 197. She had a love for art and made just about everyone she met a personalized card full of confetti or a scrap book full of memories. She loved to cook and bake. She rescued and fostered numerous dogs also known to her as her “children”. She helped foster animals from both Paddy’s Paws and Fayette Friends of Animals. She could sing like a bird but not everyone knew that talent. She always loved to travel and enjoyed her trips to California to see Shelby Dewey and Brenda Acosta and her children. Her trips to Wisconsin to see her second family, Carole Casper and the Casper children meant the world to her; and her brothers and their families were so special to her--she was so happy that she got to take them on the steam train when they helped move her to PA. She had countless friends. She loved to play cards and bingo. Towards the end of her life, she became a huge advocate for organ donation. She worked hard to get on the organ donation list for kidneys and even though she had so many obstacles ahead of her she maintained advocating for the importance of organ donation.

Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Doris Arthur; father & mother-in-law, Virgil and Evelyn Ripp; brothers-in-law: Allen Dewey, Kevin Ripp, and Donald Ripp; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Ripp and Kristeen Farberg; and nephew, Chad Farberg.

Barb is survived by her husband, Nolan D. Ripp of Lemont Furnace, PA; brothers: Henry E. (Traci) Arthur Jr. of Greenwood, WI and Timothy (Denise) Arthur of Hixton, WI; sisters-in-law, Vivian (Charles) Martin Jr, of Lemont Furnace, PA, Cherie Ripp of Evansville, WI, and Shelby Dewey of CA whom was also her cherished friend; brothers-in-law: Bruce Ripp of Janesville, WI, Roger Ripp of Janesville, WI, David Farberg of Janesville, WI, many nieces and nephews that held such a special place in her heart; two goddaughters: Brenda Ann Dewey Acosta of CA and Alyson Overboe of WI; and other relatives and friends.
