Amy Leighty Obituary

Amy Lynn Ohler-Leighty, 56, of Uniontown, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, Amy was a graduate of the Connellsville Area School District. Passions for food and hospitality led her to the Stratford Career Institute, where she earned a diploma in cooking and catering. Throughout her life, Amy brought her hard work and warm heart to her employment at Yogi Bear and Honey Bear, and she later found great fulfillment helping others as a caregiver for Help at Home. For many years, she was a faithful member of the Sure House of Jesus Christ in Breakneck. Amy possessed a vibrant spirit and enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, arts and crafts, cooking, and finding treasures while shopping at MacBid.

Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Louise Boord; her father, Charles William Ohler; her ex-husband, William Ray Leighty Jr.; her son, William Ray Leighty III; her brothers, William "Bill" Ohler and Scott Ohler; and her nephew, Stanley Allan Ohler Jr.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving daughter, Brandi Leighty (Mike Vrabel) of Derry; her five grandchildren, Robert Murphy Jr. (fiancé Nancy Landis) of Uniontown, Taven Murphy, Raeonna Murphy, Kaycee Leighty, and Kiersten Vrabel, all of Derry; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Layla Landis and Jaxen Palmer. She is also survived by her sister, Lesley (Doug) Domer of Normalville; her brother, Stanley Ohler Sr. of Connellsville; her stepfather, Edwin Jay Boord of Connellsville; her very special friends, Jack and Joy Boone of Uniontown; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A private viewing for family members will be held on June 9, 2026. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Brandi Leighty, or floral tributes may be sent to Lantz Funeral Home in Uniontown.
