Charles Edward Tigney Sr. departed this life on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital , Michigan with his family by his side. Charles was born in Uniontown, PA. on December 23, 1948, the son of the late Floyd Fredrick Tigney and Sarah (Wallace) Sewell. Charles graduated from German Township High School and attended Fayette Votech for woodworking in Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his first wife: Patricia (Wista) Ford Tigney in 1992.; father-in-law: Robert Martin; and grandson, Jason Robinson.
To cherish his memory he leaves his wife: Robin Martin Tigney; daughters: Shawna Tigney of Phoenixville, PA. and Rosalind (Kevin) Jefferson of Canton; sons: Darwin “George” Tigney of Grove City, Oh. and Charles Tigney Jr. of Monroe, MI.; five brothers with one he raised Rev. Timothy (Quinsella) Tigney Sr. of Toledo, Floyd (Kathleen) Tigney of Brownstown, Claude (Rose) Tigney of N.J., Julius (Evelyn) Tigney, and Arthur Tigney of Atlanta, Ga;
Five sisters:, one of whom he raised, Debra Williams of Toledo, Cynthia Underwood of Atlanta, Ga, Christine (Levi) Washington of Myrtle Beach, Tina Sewell of Monroe and Faith Tigney of Patterson, N.J.; mother-in-law: Francis Martin, Brownsville, PA.; an aunt: Henrietta Davis, Uniontown, PA. a host of sister and brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received at the Merkle Funeral Home ,14567 S Dixie highway Monroe, MI. Friday 2-8 with funeral service on Saturday at 10am. Interment will follow in the Roselawn cemetery in Lasalle, MI.
