Philip C. Wheeler, 76, of Uniontown, Pa passed away at the Uniontown Hospital on January 23, 2019.  He was born on October 1, 1942 in Brownsville, Pa to the late Clarence Sr. and V. Genevieve (Hall) Wheeler.

Philip graduated from Brownsville  High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army.  After his honorable discharge in 1970, Philip enrolled at California State College where he received his B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts.  He was then employed  by the DPA as a Caseworker until his retirement.  Philip enjoyed reading and listening to jazz.  He had a large collection of rare books; and he was a horologist/watch enthusiast who collected many watches.  He loved his family and even though he was younger, he looked over his older sisters.

Philip is predeceased by his parents, and siblings: Susan E. Dobson, Charles E. Wheeler, and Clarence W. Wheeler, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters: Sandra L. McElroy of Harrisburg, Pa, Rena Ann (Lawrence) Curry of Uniontown, Pa, and T.Kay (Ralph) Mensah of Washington, D.C.; special sister-in- law, Vernell Wheeler of Rockville, Md; and nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

I'm Phil's next door neighbor I got to know him for the past 8 good years as we became very good friends. When I needed his help with anything he was there and I was there for him. He knew his stereo equipment very well as his streaming devices also as we both were in the same hobby. I will surly miss him my dear friend. God Bless and watch over him. See you on the other side Phil, bye for now.

To the Family of Philip C Wheeler;

There isn’t any way to prepare for the loss of a family member. Suddenly, the loved one you had always turned to is gone. In the quiet moments when the hurt is hard to bear, may love become your shelter and may the beauty of memories become your comfort.
You have the condolences of the members of St. Paul’s A.M.E. Church as you make your way through this passage. It won’t be easy, but you can rely on the support of all your friends and church family. May you be filled with faith and hope even in the midst of inescapable grief, and find comfort in and with each other. Philip will be missed by everyone.

Words cannot adequately express our sympathy, but know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Philip must have been a remarkable person. Just look around at his family and friends that are here to celebrate his life and his Home Going Service.

“Don't weep at my grave, for I am not there,

I've a date with a butterfly to dance in the air.

I'll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free,

Playing tag with the wind, while I'm waiting for thee.”

In His Service Always,

Rev. Alfred L. Thompson
And The Members of St. Paul’s A.M.E. Church
