It is with great sadness and joyful remembrance that we announce the passing of Claude E. Thomas, age 72, on March 27, 2024.
He leaves behind his mother, Mae Thomas of Uniontown, PA; sister, Rosalind (David) Black of Shenandoah Junction, WV; niece, Olivia Black of Arcata, California; nephew, Jacob Black of Shenandoah Junction, WV; niece, Dava Gant of Pittsburgh, PA; great-nephews: Eric, Eli, and David Gant of Pittsburgh, PA; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his father, David E. Thomas; and his brothers, David Thomas (twin) and Mark Thomas.
Claude was a valued and loved family member and friend to all who knew him. Claude was never afraid to be himself. He loved spicy food. He was a dedicated caregiver to his mother, who he called his best friend. He would plant a large garden in the spring and share the bounty through the summer and fall. He relished spending time with his nieces, nephew, and great nephews.
Claude graduated Uniontown High School in 1969. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 – 1975, where he was stationed in Colorado and Thailand. He was honorably discharged as a Sargent in 1975. Claude was a member of the United Mine Workers and was employed at several mines in Western Pennsylvania. In 2006, he received an associate degree in Specialized Technology from Triangle Tech. He retired from Siemens Technology in 2014.
