The Lantz Funeral Home, Inc. began with Carl A. Lantz when he moved his family from Mt. Pleasant, PA and settled into Uniontown, PA 1924. In 1928, during the Great Depression, he established the current funeral home located at 297 E. Main St, Uniontown, PA. Carl operated the business for 42 years, and in 1970, his daughter, Muriel E. Lantz Bailey went on to operate the business until 2010, and today her great-nephew, Aaron S. Lantz currently operates the funeral home.
Carl A. Lantz was a serious man who had a love for family and his work. He graduated from Eckels College in Philadelphia, PA. He was a 33rd degree Mason in the Prince Hall Lodge, choir director for many years at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church of Uniontown, PA; and he served his country in the US Marine Corps during WWI. He was known to wear tuxedo tails for his funeral services and also a derby.
Muriel E. Lantz is known to many as a charming, caring, and civic-minded business woman. She is a true humanitarian. She received her degree from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in Pittsburgh, PA. Muriel is a passionate community servant. She opened her chapel doors to house the Interfaith Assembly for Christ Church every Sunday until a new church was built at its current location. She sat on many boards to help support community efforts. Under her direction, she expanded the funeral home to accompany her growing business. This led to the ability to serve more families and her business flourished.
Aaron S. Lantz has been licensed for 18 years and has been operating the funeral home since 2008 and also graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He continues to work under the same principles that have made the funeral home successful for over 80 years and he strives to maintain the same family traditions (affordable and compassionate services) as his great-grandfather and great-aunt have done even in today’s changing world. Under Aaron’s direction, the Uniontown funeral home underwent a complete renovation in 2011 that accommodates families in a warm and comfortable environment. In 2009, he opened a second location in Washington, PA and is carrying on the same family tradition of assisting families during times of loss with understanding, compassion, personalized and affordable funeral care services.
